イギリスにおけるスマートグリッドと通信事業者

イギリスではスマートグリッドが進められている。その中心となるのは、電力、ガス、水道の効率的な利用を推進するスマートメータープロジェクトだ。　プロジェクト実施にあたり、イギリス政府はイギリス独自の仕組みであるCentral Data and Communications Company (DCC)という業界横断型コンソーシアムを活用してプロジェクトを推進している。イギリスの通信各社はコンソーシアムの参加者として、スマートメーターと電力およびガス会社の間のデータ通信サービスを無線を使用して提供している。

In the UK, Smart Meter projects that promote the effective use of electricity, gas and water are leading smart grid. The UK government has established an industry consortium called the “Central Data and Communications Company (DCC)” to promote the smart grid. As participants of the consortium, telecommunication providers in the UK provide data communication services between smart meters and utilities using wireless communications.
