By the beginning of April 2019, GO-JEK, the Indonesian ride-sharing start-up, had become a "Deca-corn " company. In 2018 the major global IT companies such as Google and Tencent invested in GO-JEK, not only were these companies contributing capital, but they were also investing their business know-how into the company. GO-JEK has often been compared with Uber or Grab, comparable ride-sharing services, but the company aims to became a "Super-App" platform providing multiple services. Currently, GO-JEK provides a wide range of services from ride-sharing to delivery, as well as a payment method.

The service is highly popular, with more Indonesians using GO-JEK than Grab, as well as great numbers using GO-JEK services in their everyday lives. Arguably, GO-JEK has gained their confidence because it has the power to solve "social problems." Traditional bike taxi (so-called "Ojek" in Indonesian) drivers in Indonesia are generally from a low-income class. GO-JEK partnered with these drivers and has made their jobs more efficient using IT technologies, and they also improved safety aspects for using a bike taxi service. These approaches have brought an incremental increase in income for drivers, and increased convenience for users.
Additionally, GO-JEK scaled up the functions of GO-PAY, originally launched as an "in-app" payment method, to make it fully-fledged electronic payments service. As a result, GO-PAY has the capacity to act as a substitute for traditional financial institutes, such as banks, and help support financial inclusion initiatives in Indonesia.

In May 2018 GO-JEK announced their plan to launch operations in 4 countries. As of July 2019, their services are currently available in 3 countries, Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand. With regards to foreign operations, GO-JEK gives its partner companies in each country considerable discretion, and even allows them to use their own branding rather than enforce "GO-JEK" branding. GO-JEK says "We are very excited to see whether or not our method will be successful outside of Indonesia." The company is currently preparing to launch its operation in Philippines.
