EdTechで加速する未来の教育

IoTやAI（人工知能）、VR（仮想現実）・AR（拡張現実）、ロボティクスといった技術の進展に伴い、教育分野でも最新技術を取り入れたEdTech（エドテック）が注目を集めている。EdTechとは、教育（Education）とテクノロジー（Technology）を組み合わせた合成語であり、パーソナライズされた学習体験を提供する次世代教育サービスとして多方面にわたって活用が増加している。特に米国は、早くから教育現場におけるインターネットアクセスやモバイル機器の普及拡大に取り組み、EdTechの導入が進んでいる。本稿は、EdTechの先進国と呼ばれている米国におけるEdTechの導入状況と活用事例を調べ、最新テクノロジーが教育現場にいかなる変化をもたらすかを展望する。

With the advancement of technologies such as IoT, AI (artificial intelligence), VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality), and robotics, EdTech, which incorporates the latest technology, is also attracting attention in the education field. EdTech is a portmanteau that combines education and technology, and is increasingly being used in a variety of fields as a next-generation educational service providing personalized learning experiences. In particular, the United States has been at the forefront of efforts to expand the spread of Internet access and mobile devices in educational settings, and is driving the progression of EdTech. This article examines the introduction and use cases of EdTech in the United States, and investigates the changes the latest technology will bring to educational settings.
